You are probably aware that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) have recently recommended that all nursing infants should take 200 to 400 units of Vitamin D daily to prevent rickets and "pre" rickets (low vitamin D levels currently found in over 35% of nursing infants). This advisory comes because Vitamin D (the sunshine vitamin) is found only minimally in mother's milk and because of skin damage and potential skin cancers that occur from giving daily "sun baths" (equivalent to an adult having ill advised sun exposure). Many times, decades later, harmful effects are evident in sunspots, wrinkling, and loss of skin elasticity. A vitamin D supplement is recommended, but no single entity vitamin D drop has been available. UNTIL NOW!!
